I have reached eighteen! To me, this would be the moment that I always wish to come back to once again…
Entering this school year, I was transferred to a new class, class 12/1, with friends both familiar and strange. At first, we still didn’t talk much, but then this class soon became close with each other and we all walked to the door of 18 years old together.
When hearing the news “When I was 18”, a special contest for only 12th graders was held, the class excitedly began to prepare for it right away. There was no barrier between us because everyone all seemed determined to win the game.
“When I’m 18” includes some different competing parts, which can be mentioned: Green Dance performance, Drama performance, Mini-Games, Knowledge Competition… Among them, like many times, Nhi choreographed for the Green Dance performance. This time, we decided to bring up the cuteness of school age from shyness of first love, to the pressure of exams and then a little bit of fun of the “Nhat quy nhi ma”, a common phrase when talking about the school age . Every time we gathered to prepare for the competition, we all sounded like preschool kids. There were those who did somersaults, some others imitated, the others ran…, all kinds of things, but somehow it’s so much fun. When we got to the stage, we acted and danced with all our might. Everyone explodes! In that performance, we all danced together, played the guitar, and sang loudly the chorus “Nhat quy nhi ma”… What a beautiful moment!
Watch our dance performance here!
When it comes to the drama performance, teachers all said A1’s acting talent was no joke. With a good script and many sudden plot twists, the performance made all the audience scream as hard as they could and even stand up to cheer for it.
Next are team building games. At first, we weren’t very confident about this, but to our surprise, we won the first prize. Then there’s a competition which tested the participants’ knowledge of a variety of aspects in life like history, geography, etc..
BBesides the competition times, the noon break was also a time that brought us together as a family. We had a chance to eat, talk and sing with each other.
And… the class that received the first prize was 12/1. To me, “When I turn eighteen” was not only a competition but also a special occasion for students like us to feel free from stressful studies and enjoy the youth. This would always remind all of us
Be the twinkling stars,
Nhi Bui
